Emily Cowles, also known as “Miss Emily”, is an advice columnist and crosswords puzzlist.
Biography[]
Miss Emily is an elderly woman working as an advice columnist at INS. She joined the news service so she could get experience that would allow her to write a mystery novel, and so she could steal office supplies to write it. She is well-liked around the office, and she is the one person Carl Kolchak trusts completely. She often helps Kolchak in his pursuits of evidence for the supernatural, though given her age, she rarely goes out into the field. Her advice column and crossword puzzles are well-received among INS’s readers, and are one of the newspaper’s main draws.
