Captain Joe 'Mad Dog' Siska is a Detective on the Chicago Police Department.
Biography[]
Siska became infamous among both the police and reporters for his short, explosive temper, earning him the nickname “Mad Dog”. Eventually, at the urging of his wife, he took a year of therapy to control his anger. Upon returning to work, he was assigned to investigate the murders caused by the Peremalfait. Siska calmly gave answers to the press, and when asked by Kolchak what happened to his temper, Siska explained what happened.
Kolchak was unsatisfied with the answers given, and he promptly slashed Officer Pablo's tires and stole police information while Pablo investigated. This caused Siska so much stress he reverted to his explosive, temperamental self, and he angrily screamed at Kolchak for this when he presented Siska with his theory about the Peremalfait and its connection to sleep studies and Paul Langois, whose unconscious mind had created it. Although skeptical about the Peremalfait, Siska was convinced Langois was somehow causing the murders in his sleep and promptly had him woken up; this caused the Peremalfait to will Langois to die.
Siska later investigated the murders caused by the Succubus on a college campus, where it possessed the corpses of young women and caused heart attacks in young men. Siska ordered the manner of the victims’ deaths kept secret, and when Kolchak and a local campus reporter asked him about the case, he angrily refused to give them any information. When Kolchak attempted to inform him of the nature of the culprit, Siska ordered him out. After Kolchak destroyed the stone tablet that allowed the Succubus entry into the world, Siska attempted to press charges, but Professor C. Evan Spake declined, having realized Kolchak’s theory was correct, and Siska was forced to let Kolchak go.
