Officer Earl Lyons was a decorated officer in the Chicago Police Department.
Biography[]
Lyons received a Medal of Valor for breaking up three bank robberies singlehandedly, and he became a local hero in Chicago. Lyons was one of the officers investigating the murders caused by a cult dedicated to reviving the evil Aztec mummy Nanautzin. While at the crime scene of Captain Madge Timmins at a hotel, Carl Kolchak attempted to go inside, only for Lyons to refuse, as his superior Captain Webster had proclaimed the area off limits to the press.
Kolchak then attempted to sneak in disguised as a busboy, but Tony Vincenzo and Ron Updyke accidentally blew his cover. Lyons pursued Kolchak, who hid in a storage closet. After Kolchak was discovered, Lyons and Webster escorted him to Tillie Jones, the hotel manager. Jones declined to press charges, due to finding Kolchak attractive.
That night, as he went on patrol alone, Lyons was nervous about an upcoming public speaking event at a school. He spotted a young woman whose car had broken down and asked him to help, and Lyons complied. Unbeknownst to him, this was a trap set by Nanautzin’s cult, and several other cultists ambushed him and tore him apart as a sacrifice.
