Biography[]
Dr. Richard Malcolm, aka Dr. Malcolm Richards, had been a surgeon in the Union Army during the Civil War. After the war, in 1868 he found that by using the blood of freshly killed women, he could create an elixir which keeps him young, and thereby, immortal.
Each dose of the elixir lasts for 21 years. So to remain alive, he must kill again and again, each time using the blood of his latest victims to make a new dose of immortality elixir to retain his youth.
By the time Kolchak discovers the evil doctor's secret, he is on his sixth cycle of using his secret elixir.
During Kolchak's confrontion with Malcolm, Kolchak breaks the beaker containing the freshly made elixir. The enraged doctor attacks him, but he has not yet replenished himself with a new dose and the previous one wears off. He rapidly ages to his true form of a 140 year old man.
Weak and in desperation, Malcolm tries to retreat, but the police arrive. Malcolm realizes he is trapped. In a final act to escape capture, he throws himself out a nearby window, falling to his death on the street far below.
